Behind The Collection: Monsoon Mandala

Introducing Monsoon Mandala; our newest collaborative collection with Monsoon inspired by global travel and a signature Monsoon pattern from their fashion archive.

From fashion to home interiors, everyone is talking about teal including shades of azure hues to kingfisher greens – teal is being used for fabrics, wall coverings as well as home accessories and has been inspired in part by the growing use of foliage and plants in all rooms in the home.

The Monsoon Mandala pattern has a jewel like shade and is combined with warm metallics and golds. It’s influenced by spices from eastern cuisine like turmeric and cardamom to add depth and sophistication.

The global theme runs throughout the collection with the Mandala pattern originating from Indian and Moroccan tilework and traditional wood block printing.

These global influences alongside the pattern of the Monsoon kaftan dress from Monsoon’s fashion archive resulted in the final design for Monsoon Mandala.

Denby designer, Nicola Wilson says: “The Monsoon archives have a wealth of beautiful patterns, especially those inspired by traditional textile block printing. The bold imagery chosen to create Mandala really stood out as suiting the new direction we wanted to take this collection, bringing together the global influences seen in interiors and the boho luxe styling of Monsoon.”

With teal being described as a ‘colour to watch’ by trend forecasters this year, these darker hues combined with metallics give a luxurious look and feel.

To complement the core fine china pieces of Monsoon Mandala and to complete the look, accessories are also available including round placemats and coasters in a bright shade of teal, as well as rich amber glassware featuring an etched decorative pattern.

The designs in Monsoon Mandala are beautiful, but also durable and functional. The intricate pattern used across the range looks striking on a table. Every piece works for entertaining guests or can be used decoratively around the home styled with warm wooden interiors and woven accessories.
